Stoneham Donates Shelter Kits, Cots To Melrose-Wakefield District

STONEHAM, MA — The Stoneham Board of Health donated 50 Emergency Shelter Kits and five Special Needs Cots to the Melrose-Wakefield Health District. The supplies will aid in setting up a Regional Surge Unit for local hospitals, including Melrose-Wakefield and Winchester Hospitals.

The surge unit comes at a time where a spike in the amount of confirmed cases of the coronavirus has been projected to rise exponentially. The Board of Health said it hopes the supplies can help local healthcare facilities, the Public Health Coalition and the residents of Stoneham and its neighboring communities.

Health officials urge residents to continue to take precautions and practice social distancing.
