Stoneham Hockey Headed Back To MIAA Tournament
Spartans earn the No. 12 seed in the Division 2 North field.

One year after an emotional run to the Division 2 state title game, the Stoneham boys hockey team is back in the tournament.
The MIAA released the hockey pairings Saturday and after an 11-8-1 regular season, Stoneham earned the No. 12 seed. The Spartans will play Winthrop on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Woburn. The Vikings are the No. 5 seed after going 14-4-2. The winner of that game advances to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the Boston Latin vs. Somerville game.
Stoneham, which lost to Plymouth South in the state final at the TD Garden last winter, won its last two games to secure a tournament berth.
