Stoneham Public Schools Earn B+ Grade In New National Ranking
Stoneham was placed 83rd out of 219 Massachusetts school districts in rankings from Niche on Tuesday.
STONEHAM, MA — The Stoneham Public Schools earned an overall grade of B+ in a new batch of nationwide rankings and report cards this week from the education platform Niche.
Niche shared its rankings on Tuesday, giving Stoneham an A for teachers and sports and an A- for academics and administration. Stoneham received a B+ for clubs, activities and college prep and a B- for resources, facilities, diversity and food to round out the overall B+ grade.
Niche ranked Stoneham as the 83rd best school district out of 219 in Massachusetts.

Niche awarded individual school-level scores as follows:
- Stoneham Central Middle School: A-
- Stoneham High School: B+
- Robin Hood Elementary School: B+
- Colonial Park Elementary School: B+
- South Elementary School: B+
Niche did not share individual rankings for other Stoneham public schools.

Outside of the Stoneham Public Schools, though, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, which serves students in Stoneham, received a B+ ranking to place 11th out of 38 charter schools in the state.
Mystic Valley earned an A for diversity, an A- for academics and college prep, a B+ for sports and a B- for teachers. Clubs, activities, resources, facilities received a C- while the administration received a D to produce the total B+ ranking.
Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School received a C grade.
It earned an A for sports, an A- for diversity and a B for resources, facilities and food. The school received a B- for teachers, clubs and activities and a C for academics, college prep and administration.
The Greater Boston Academy in Stoneham received an A+ grade.
Niche rankings this month classified 92,743 public schools, 30,112 private schools, and 11,820 school districts across the U.S.
In Massachusetts, top districts included the Weston Public Schools, the Hopkinton Public Schools and the Wellesley Public Schools.
The organization arrives at its grades and placements via analysis of a series of public data sets and reviews, as noted in a methodologies page on its website.
Niche said its rankings aim to provide families with quantitative and qualitative information to assess schools in their area or in areas they’re not yet familiar with.
