Stoneham Superintendent Search Discussion Kicking Off

Superintendent John Macero announced his intention to retire effective Aug. 31, ending a five-year run leading Stoneham Public Schools.

STONEHAM, MA — The discussion around the search for Stoneham's next superintendent will begin this week.

The School Committee is prepared Thursday to discuss "strategy with respect to superintendent search," according to the agenda.

Superintendent John Macero announced his intention to retire effective Aug. 31, ending a five-year run leading Stoneham Public Schools. He said will pursue his passion for the arts, working with his wife in her performing arts school in Winthrop.

So Stoneham will begin talking about how to replace him Thursday night, when public comment will be open for community members to weigh in.
