Superstorm Sandy: One Year Later
The 2012 storm knocked out power to more than 500,000 Massachusetts and New Hampshire customers.

A year ago this week, Superstorm Sandy blew through the East Coast. Though the worst damage was in New York and New Jersey, parts of Massachusetts were hard hit as well. You may remember these pictures from Stoneham.
Strong winds brought down trees and power lines throughout the state, knocking out electricity to more than 500,000 Massachusetts and New Hampshire homes and forcing numerous school closings and road closures.
As bas as things were in eastern Massachusetts, things were far worse in western half of the state and Vermont, where flooding took out roads and bridges. The damage was even worse along Long Island, the Connecticut shore, and New Jersey.
