1. 2013 Kathleen M. Bedrosian Scholarship Volleyball Tournament
This Friday night, April 26 is the 2013 Kathleen M. Bedrosian Volleyball Scholarship Tournament, held at the Stoughton High School gymnasium, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Teams from Stoughton High, the O'Donnell Middle School, Stoughton elementary schools, and the Stoughton Police will compete. Admission is $1 and concessions will be available.

Kathleen “Kitty” Bedrosian, a beloved teacher at the South Elementary School, passed away in the spring of 2002 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
This tournament is named after Bedrosian to keep her memory alive in the town of Stoughton and help raise funds for the Stoughton Teachers’ Association scholarship fund.

2. 5 School 5K, Fun Run and Healthy Kids Day
The third annual It’s Elementary! 5 School 5K & Fun Run will be held Saturday, April 27 at the Old Colony YMCA in Stoughton (445 Central St.). The fun run starts at 9 a.m., while the 5K road race starts at 10 a.m.
The Old Colony YMCA will also be holding a Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, with activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

3. Pride of Stoughton Day
The annual Pride of Stoughton Day, a community-wide cleanup and service event, organized by the Stoughton Youth Commission, takes place this Sunday, April 28, from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Lunch will be served at the Senior Center/Youth Commission building (110 Rockland St.) from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and the cleanup work of different sites (the CAPP playground, Community Gardens at the Senior Center, the skate park) will commence after lunch.
Volunteers are still needed. Call 781-344-8882 if you plan on helping out so there is a more accurate count for the amount of food needed (RSVP not required, however).
If you can't make it that day, there are still other ways to help, Senior Center/Youth Commission director Karen Hall said, like painting your fence; volunteering to help elderly neighbors do yard work; cleaning up the sidewalk near your home; or planting a garden.
4. Maxie's Looking to Help Burn Victims with "Pickle Pandemonium" Eating Contest
Dubbed "Pickle Pandemonium," a pickle eating contest will take place Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at Maxie's, 117 Sharon St. in Cobbs Corner (outside if the weather cooperates).
Like last year, all the proceeds are being donated to the Sumner Redstone Burn Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.

5A. Stoughton Youth Lacrosse Home Opener
The Stoughton Youth Lacrosse program, in its inaugural season, will host its first-ever home games this Sunday, April 28. The U15 (noon), U13 (1:30 p.m.) and U11 (3 p.m.) will play teams from Quincy at the Hansen School fields.
There will be bouncy houses, games and a bbq for all the spectators.

5B. STOYAC Softball Parade
The STOYAC Softball program will be holding its annual Opening Day parade, Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. The parade starts at the DPW on Central St. and heads to the softball fields at the West School Athletic Complex.

BONUS: School Committee Debate on TV
Stoughton Patch/Snyder's Stoughton hosted a debate between the four school committee candidates (Carol Brown, Deb Cote, Joyce Husseini and Pat MacNeil) at the Stoughton Police Station Community Room Wednesday evening.
It was taped by SMAC and will air on Verizon Channel 28 and Comcast Channel 9 at the following times:
- 9 p.m. - Thursday, April 25
- 7:30 p.m. - Friday, April 26
- 10:30 a.m. - Saturday, April 27
- 8:30 p.m. - Sunday, April 28
- 7 p.m. - Monday, April 29
- Noon - Tuesday, April 30
Election Day is Tuesday, April 30.
