"Five Things you Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance:

1. Annual Rabies Clinic 

The annual rabies clinic will be held at the DPW garage, 950 Central St. in Stoughton, on Sunday, April 7, as a collaborative effort of the Stoughton Public Health Department and Dr. Arthur Mallock of the Lloyd Animal Medical Center.

The charge will be $12 per animal. 

The cat clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Please contain your cat for safety purposes.

The dog clinic will follow, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. State law requires that all dogs six months of age or older be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. All dogs must be leashed for safety and controlled by their owner.  

2. Stoughton High Football Gridiron Club Fundraiser at the Chateau

The Stoughton High School Football Gridiron Club is having a fundraiser at the Chateau in Stoughton (1165 Park St.) on Thursday, April 4.

Come enjoy lunch or dinner (from 11:15 a.m. until close) on 4/4 and the Chateau will donate 20 percent of your bill to the Gridiron Club.

Print the ticket posted in the media gallery, and present it to your waiter or waitress when you pay the check.

Only one ticket per group is needed. It’s good for both dine-in and take out orders (781-341-2503).

3. SHS Class of 2014 Fundraiser at Five Guys

The Stoughton High Class of 2014 is having a fundraiser at Five Guys in Cobbs Corner Thursday, April 4, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

A portion of the sales will go towards the SHS Class of 2014, this year's junior class. No flyer is needed. 

4. Early Release Day for Stoughton Public Schools

Thursday, April 4 is an early release day for the Stoughton Public Schools. The school hours for early release days are:

  • SHS & OMS: 7:35 a.m. – 11:32 a.m.
  • Elementary: 8:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.

5. Stoughton High Sports on Tap

The following is the Stoughton High athletics schedule for Thursday, April 4:

  • The outdoor track team hosts Sharon at 2:30 p.m.
  • The varsity baseball team travels to Franklin at 3:30 p.m.
  • The varsity softball team hosts Franklin at 3:30 p.m.
  • The girls' tennis team hosts Franklin at 3:30 p.m.
  • JV baseball and JV softball are both home; Freshmen baseball and softball are both at Franklin.

Reminder: Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton

Stoughton resident Peg Carbone continues her effort to curb hunger in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.

Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."
