1. Wanted: Town Meeting Representatives

There will be a meeting at the Stoughton High School Media Center Monday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. about running as a write-in candidate for Town Meeting representative from your respective precinct.

The deadline has passed to file papers and get your name on the ballot as a candidate for Town Meeting representative for this year's Town Election, but with 62 seats up for election this year, and only 24 people turning in nomination papers, there are still 38 openings for potential write-in candidates. 

There are openings in every precinct.

Stoughton's Annual Town Election, originally scheduled for April 9, has been pushed back to April 30, coinciding with the special primary election for U.S. Senate, giving write-in candidates extra time to campaign. Town Meeting will start May 20 this year.

Those looking to run as a write-in candidate are asked to notify the Town Clerk. Write-in candidates must receive a minimum of 12 write-in votes and sign an acceptance 72 hours after the election in order to be elected. The correct write-in name and address must be placed within the proper space on the ballot.

2. Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen will meet Monday, April 8, starting at 7 p.m. in the Yaitanes Room (third floor, Town Hall).

3. Finance Committee Meeting

The Finance Committee is scheduled to meet both Monday and Tuesday evening, April 8-9. Both meetings are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall (third floor, Town Hall). 

The FinCom is expected to vote on the FY14 budget and Town Meeting articles.

4. SHS Class of 2016 Fundraiser at Daddy's Dairy

This Monday, April 8, from 5-9 p.m., Daddy's Dairy in Stoughton will donate 10-percent of its sales to the Stoughton High Class of 2016 (this year's freshman class). 

5. Homework Center at the Library

The Homework Center will be available for students in the Wales French room of the Stoughton Public Library Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
