SHS is also requiring all seniors and their parents/guardians to sign a Safe Prom Contract, where signers agree not to attend or host any pre- or post-prom parties where there may be any alcohol or other substances available.

In order to attend prom, students and their parents/guardians must sign this prom contract. It may not be taken home and brought back to school signed.

2. Parent Informational Meeting on School Shooter Response Training

The following is from the Stoughton Public Schools:

There will be a parent informational meeting held on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the O’Donnell Middle School Media Center to introduce the new protocols to be used in response to an active shooter incident, should such a thing ever occur in one of our schools.

Parents are encouraged to attend to hear about the incoming changes and discuss them with Stoughton Public School and Stoughton Police Department officials.

3. POSTPONED: College Planning Event for Stoughton High Juniors

The Stoughton High School Guidance Department was scheduled to hold a college planning evening for families of current juniors on Wednesday, March 6, but it has been postponed.

The following is from the Stoughton High Guidance Department:

"Due to the conflict with the event at the O'Donnell Middle School [see item #2 above], the Stoughton High School Guidance Department has decided to cancel the Junior College Planning Night for Wednesday, March 6 in order that our parents not feel conflicted about which even to attend.  As soon as a new date has been confirmed, we will let everyone know."

4. Stoughton Reads Together

The 2013 Stoughton Reads Together Program officially started March 1, with the first official event being held Wednesday, March 6.

There will be a video presentation of ABC News Nightline's "Searching for Hope: Sarajevo Haggadah", followed by a discussion with Dr. Adnan Zubcevic, Executive Director of the Bosnian Community Center for Research Development. Dr. Zubcevic will also bring a copy of the Sarajevo Haggadah for display.

The event takes place at 7 p.m. in the Wales French Room of the Stoughton Public Library.

Inspired by the true story of a mysterious codex known as the Sarajevo Haggadah, People of the Book is a sweeping fictional adventure through five centuries of history, and is this year's choice as the Stoughton Reads Together book selection.
