Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” will be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police on a public way in Norfolk County Friday, August 2, into Saturday, August 3.
The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways.

It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.

According to the National Weather Service, it will be partly to mostly sunny with temperatures in the low to mid 80s, with a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm on Friday and over the weekend here in Stoughton.

Malcolm & Parsons Food Pantry Drive
Drop off any canned goods or non-perishable items at Malcolm & Parsons Insurance Agency's downtown Stoughton office (770 Washington St.) during the months of July and August and Malcolm & Parsons will match the donation.
All proceeds and donations will be distributed to the two local food pantries in Stoughton.
"These are the months when the food pantries are in need the most," Jack Raeke of Malcolm & Parsons wrote in an email. "We have a kiddie Pool set up in our office and hope to fill it with can goods and non perishables. As we did last year Malcolm and Parsons has agreed to match the value of all the donations! THE POOL HAS A LOT MORE ROOM."
