Family to Honor Stoughton's Bob Parsons, One Year After His Passing

The family of longtime Stoughton resident and volunteer Bob Parsons is holding a Mass Sunday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church in Stoughton to mark the one year anniversary of his passing.

The family of longtime Stoughton resident and volunteer Bob Parsons is holding a Mass this Sunday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church in Stoughton to mark the one year anniversary of his passing.

Parsons passed away a year ago Friday, on May 24, 2012 at the age of 60.

Parsons, a 1969 Stoughton High graduate and veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, was an active volunteer in town.

He served as chairman of the Stoughton Fourth of July Committee for 30 years until 2006. In recognition of his service, the 2012 July 4th Fireworks Show was dedicated in his memory. 

In addition to his time running the July 4th activities, he also sat on the Stoughton Fire Station Sub-Committee; he was a Precinct 1 Town Meeting Representative for many years; was a member of the Stoughton Municipal Operations Committee; and was a part of Stoughton's VFW Post 1645.

He was the husband of Joyce (Carnes) Parsons and proud father of Jonathan and Kimberly.
