Gallery: Stoughton High Winter Sports Awards Night (2012-2013)
Thirty SHS student-athletes were recognized Wednesday night (3/27) for their performance on and off the field of play.
The Stoughton High athletic community gathered Wednesday evening, March 27 in the SHS cafeteria to celebrate the end of the winter sports season.
Thirty student-athletes were honored for their performance on and off the field this season.
Awards for team MVP, sportsmanship and scholar athlete were presented (full list of award winners below).

The players on each respective team vote for the team MVP and for the sportsmanship recipient. The Scholar Athlete award goes to the athlete on the team with the highest grade point average.
Six athletes in five different sports were also named Hockomock League All-Stars, while five more athletes received Honorable Mention honors from the League. The Hockomock coaches vote for League All-Stars.

The 2012-2013 winter season was full of individual and team highlights for the various Stoughton High squads.
- The girls' basketball team made its second straight appearance in the Division 1 state tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual South Sectional champion Braintree. Stoughton capped a two-year run with 27 total wins, including the postseason.
- The boys' hockey team won the Hockomock League Team Sportsmanship Award, and for the second straight season got to go to the Boston Garden to receive the James F. Mulloy Team Sportsmanship Award. Imani Pina will receive the Boston Bruins Sportsmanship Award April 8.
- The boys' and girls' indoor track teams were both recipients of the Hockomock League Team Sportsmanship Award.
- The boys' indoor track team won a share of the Davenport Division title. Malachi Baugh set a new school record in the 300-meters with a time of 37.16 seconds.
- Senior boys' basketball captain Marcus Middleton became the 14th player in school history - boy or girl - to eclipse 1,000 career points, ending with 1,026. He was honored with a special basketball commemorating the accomplishment.
- This was the most successful season for the wrestling team in recent memory. The team finished undefeated at home, and came in second at the Nick Peachy tournament and third at the Northbridge Tournament. Seven wrestlers placed in the top six of their respective weight classes at the Hockomock Championships. Six wrestlers placed in the top six of their respective weight classes at the Division 2 South tournament, including Bryan Nguyen who won the heavyweight title. Stefanos Kampouris wrestled at the 170 weight class in the All-State tournament.
- Boys' swim captain Hunter Goodrich competed in the 50-yard free style at the Division 2 Boys State Winter Swimming and Diving Championships. He also came in third in the 100-meter butterfly at the Hockomock League championships. He'll be taking part in a national swim meet down in North Carolina in early April, competing in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.
- The cheerleading team competed at the South Regionals, and placed at several other tournaments earlier in the season.
- This winter marked the inaugural season for the girls' ice hockey program, which competed at the junior varsity level.
