Stoughton Homicide: Victim, Suspect ID'd

Police said a woman was fatally stabbed in her home Friday night. Her husband is expected to face a murder charge.

STOUGHTON, MA — Authorities have identified the victim in a homicide in Stoughton late Friday night. Telma Bras, 43, was fatally stabbed at her home on Bennett Drive Friday night. Her husband, 48-year-old Ilton Rodriguez, has been hospitalized and will likely face a murder charge, District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

UPDATE — Rodriguez was arraigned Monday at Boston medical Center and is being held without bail.

Officers went to the home shortly before midnight after receiving a call from a relative who had been contacted by the couple's daughter. Police forced entry and found Bras dead of an apparent stabbing, according to Morrissey.

Rodriguez had injuries consistent with a suicide attempt, Morrissey said. He is expected to survive.

Police said Rodriguez does not have a known history of domestic violence, and their only interaction with him was for a minor motor vehicle infraction. The couple's two children – a 17-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son – were home at the time of the attack, Morrissey said.
