Roundup: Stoughton Man Arrested for Attempted Murder, Kidnapping; Town Meeting Under way

A look at the top headlines from the past week.

A Stoughton man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and kidnapping, after he repeatedly physically abused his girlfriend, and held her captive in her Bridgewater home for the past month.

The woman, 50, sought medical attention May 17 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, having sustained facial, rib and back fractures, as well as bruising "all over her body," according to a report filed by Bridgewater Police.

Her boyfriend, Mark Crean, 49, of McCormick Terrace in Stoughton, was arrested in Wareham on May 17, and is charged with attempted murder; kidnapping; aggravated domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; two counts of domestic assault and battery; drug to confine; and witness intimidation.

Stoughton Town Meeting Underway

Stoughton's 2013 Annual Town Meeting started this past week with the first two sessions being held this past Monday and Wednesday.

Session II ended in the middle of a debate over the budget for the Stoughton Public Schools. Town Meeting will resume with the third session on Wednesday, May 29.

A Stoughton Firefighter was given given a “Hero Award” in honor of EMS week last Monday night at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
