School Committee To Take Up Various Superintendent Search Items

The search committee, the consultant, and job listing are all on the agenda for Tuesday's school committee meeting.

STOUGHTON, MA — Several items related to the search for the next superintendent of the Stoughton Public Schools as expected to be taken up at Tuesday's school committee meeting.

The agenda for the meeting includes the selection of the search consultant, the posting for the superintendent opening, and appointment for the search committee.

According to items in the meeting packet, the committee has their choice of the New England School Development Council or the Massachusetts Association of School Committees for the consultant.

The proposed superintendent job description calls for candidates to have at least five years of teaching experience, five years of experience as a principal, and a preference for some central office experience. Whoever gets the job will get a three-year contract with a yearly salary between $165,000-$175,000.

For the search committee, the recommended group consists of school committee Chairwoman Molly Cochran, Vice-Chair Katie Pina-Enokian, Deputy Superintendent Jonathan Ford, executive secretary to the superintendent and school committee secretary Mary Shea, retired Stoughton Public Schools Business Manager Kathy Silva, special education assistant administrator Carolan Sampson, Dawe Elementary School Principal Robert Cancellieri, South Elementary School council member Marguerite Mitchell, O'Donnell Middle School council member Ellise LaMotte, Stoughton High School council member Cheryl Mills, and Stoughton Teachers Association Kim Kellogg.

The deadline to apply for the superintendent has been set for Nov. 9, with semi-finalists interviews scheduled for Dec. 3-6. Finalists will be named during the week of Dec. 10 with final interviews for Jan. 22 and a vote to appoint on Feb. 12, according to the job description.

The search is being conducted to find a successor for Superintendent Marguerite Rizzi, who is retiring after the 2018-19 school year.

All items are considered to be in draft form or pending until they are voted on by the school committee.
