Stoughton has been designated a Green Community by the state Department of Energy Resources.It is the 19th town in Massachusetts to earn the distinction. As a result, the town will receive a $209,910 grant to put toward local clean energy and energy efficiency projects.In total, all Green Communities will dedicate $3.1 million toward those projects. All Green Communities commit to reducing municipal energy consumption by 20 percent over five years.
