Stoughton High Boys' Track Excels at MSTCA Relay Meet

The Stoughton High boys' track team had a turned in a number of quality performances at the MSTCA Div 2 Relays at Walpole High on April 27, finishing in 10th place in this high-quality meet.

The Stoughton High boys' track team had a turned in a number of quality performances at the MSTCA Div 2 Relays at Walpole High on April 27, finishing in 10th place in this high-quality meet.

The Stoughton boys' and girls' are both in action Tuesday against Oliver Ames. A full recap of the boys' performance from the relay meet is below:

The following is from Stoughton boys' coach Harvey Blonder:

Sophomore David Lockhart started the day with a scintillating performance in the first event on the track (4 x mile) and senior captain Jack D'Addieco finished the day with another electric relay leg in the last race of the day (4 x 400-meters).

Lockhart knocked 11 seconds off his outdoor mile best handing off to junior Alec DeNapoli in second place after running 4:32. DeNapoli ran 5:04, sophomore Antonio Irons 5:06 (in his first outdoor mile) and senior captain Wayne Barnaby posted 4:42 passing two runners to bring the team a 6th place (medal) position.

D'Addieco ended the day with a personal best relay split of 51.9 seconds. The team qualified for the state meet with an overall time of 3:37. Teammates were Jason Marshall, Alfred Parker and Samir Sofi.

Marshall, Sofi and Parker also combined for a 6th place finish in the high jump competition.

The top placing team was the 4 x 100-meter team of Aaron Mack, Marcus Middleton, Matt Mack and Malachi Baugh who combined for a second place finish (44.34).  This same group formed a 5th place 4 x 200-meters team (1:35.35).

Sofi, Aaron Mack, and Baugh finished third in the long jump competition.

Just off the medals was the triple jump team of Andrew Valle, Matt Mack and D'Addieco in 7th.

Hurdles relay of Harley David, Valle, John Eppenstein and Alex Oliver was 8th.
Javelin team of Valle, Eppenstein and Barnaby was also 8th.

The 4 x 800-meter relay of Barnaby, Marshall, DeNapoli and Lockhart was 9th, finishing in 8:40.

Shot put team of Kevin Lucas, Alex Green and D'Addieco was 10th.

The discus team of Green, Bobby Blindt and Lucas was 11th.

Freshman Jordan Taylor substituted for Smeet Patel (allergy/breathing issues) and contributed with a personal best 400-meters (57 seconds).
