Stoughton Obituaries: Ernesto Garcia; Kathleen (Hayward) Jefferson; Edward Cullen, Jr.
Obituaries for three Stoughton residents who passed away recently: Ernesto Garcia, at the age of 91; Kathleen (Hayward) Jefferson, at the age of 64; and Edward P. Cullen, Jr., at the age of 43.

Ernesto V. Garcia, 91
Ernesto V. Garcia, 91, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton on Monday, April 8. He was the husband of 61 years of Alvina L. (Lucio) Garcia.

Born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he moved to Stoughton in 1981. Garcia worked at Qual-Craft in Stoughton for seven years before retiring in 1988. He also worked at Albert's Restaurant in Stoughton for several years.
Garcia was a member of the Sao Joao Filarmonica Band in Stoughton. He loved music and soccer, especially Benfica. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Garcia is survived by his children, Natividade Silva of Lisbon, Portugal, Teodoro Garcia, Noemia Medeiros, Helio Garcia and Nelson Garciaall of Stoughton, as well as his grandchildren, John Silva, Paul Medeiros and Bela Collins. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Garcia of CA, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Thursday, April 11 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours are Wednesday, April 10 from 5-8 p.m.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.

Kathleen (Hayward) Jefferson, 64
Kathleen A. (Hayward) Jefferson, 64, of Stoughton, died Saturday, April 6, at the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Home after a period of failing health.
Born in Cambridge, she was raised in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. She also was a graduate of Nursing School. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley for over 15 years, retiring in 2005.
Several years ago, she was a Girl Scout Leader and a ceramics instructor. In her free time, she enjoyed painting.
She is survived by her children, Wendy Jefferson of Plymouth, Donald "Pooch" Jefferson of Stoughton, Samantha Jefferson of Springfield and Selena Jefferson of Quincy.
She was the sister of Susan Morrow of FL, Thomas Hayward of Brockton and Priscilla Powers of NH. She was the former wife of Donald E. Jefferson of Hyde Park. She is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday evening, April 11 at 8 p.m. Visiting Hours prior to prayers from 5-8 p.m.
Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, S. Portland, ME.

Edward P. Cullen, Jr., 43
Edward P. Cullen, Jr., 43, of Stoughton, died Friday, April 5, at the Champion Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was the beloved son of Shirley A. (Nota) Cullen Conefrey and the late Edward P. Cullen.
Born in Bitburg, Germany, he was raised and educated in Brockton. He loved music and writing poetry.
Cullen's family would like to thank the Nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Champion Rehabilitation Center and to Beacon Hospice. Special thanks to Julie Dolan, partner of 20 years of Shirley Conefrey, for her years of caring and support.
In addition to his mother, Cullen is survived by his brother John B. Cullen of SC and his niece Delaney Cullen.
Funeral prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
Donations in Cullen's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
