Stoughton Obituaries: Maria (Tavares) Medeiros, James Flint
Maria (Tavares) Medeiros, 79, a longtime Stoughton resident, passed away April 14. James E. Flint, of Stoughton, an Army veteran, passed away on April 8 at the age of 46.

Maria J. (Tavares) Medeiros, 79, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Brockton Hospital on Sunday, April 14.

Born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she moved to Stoughton in 1968. Mrs. Medeiros worked at Corcoran Shoe in Stoughton for 23 years and Spoontigues for 17 years before retiring at age 70.
She was a member of the Sociedade Filarmonica De Sao Joao and the Portuguese National Club both in Stoughton. She enjoyed trips to casinos, playing cards, gardening and especially spending time with her family.

Mrs. Medeiros is survived by her children, Emilia E. Lima and her husband Chris of Cumberland, RI, Maria F. Reis and her husband Jose of Brockton, Cidalia M. Ribeiro of Stoughton and Jorge M. Medeiros and his wife Ellen of Wareham.
She was the sister of Ilda Mendonca of Stoughton and the late Manuel and Jose Tavares. She was preceded in death by her children, Ilda M. Abreu and Jose M. Medeiros, as well as her former husband, Angelo M. Medeiros and her son-in-law, Joao L. Ribeiro. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Wednesday, April 17 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours Tuesday, April 16 from 5-8 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.

James E. Flint

James Edward Flint, 46, of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly at his sister’s home Monday April 8, 2013.
Born November 18, 1967 in Norwood, he was the son of Sandra (Hiotes) Van and James Flint and step son of Gerry Flint and John Van. Jim was raised in Brockton and attended Southeastern Regional High School.
While serving in the US Army he was stationed in Hawaii. For many years he worked as a painter and sheet rocker. Jimmy loved spending time with family, going to bingo and lottery tickets.
He was the father of Ryan Flint of Stoughton, brother of Mary Van, Tina Flint, Christopher Van, John Van and the late George Flint. He also leaves five step brothers and sisters as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday, April 16, 4-7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jimmy's name to the funeral home to help defray costs (Conley Funeral & Cremation Service, 138 Belmont St., Brockton, MA, 02301).
