Stoughton Police Investigating a Pair of Armed Robberies

Stoughton Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies which took place at Fairy Tales Formals and Rite Aid last week. 

Police received a call at 3:11 p.m. March 14 reporting a robbery at Fairy Tales Formals, located at 761 Washington St. in the downtown.

Executive Officer Robert Devine said a man walked into the store and stated that he had a gun, stole a few hundred dollars in cash, and then fled on foot. 

The suspect, described to police as a black male, approximately 40 to 45 years old, with a stalky build, wearing black pants and a grey hoodie at the time, did not show the gun during the robbery, Devine said.

The day before, March 13, Stoughton Police responded to a robbery at Rite Aid at 638 Washington St. in Shaw's Plaza just before 7 p.m., where a suspect with a knife stole an undisclosed amount of pills, Devine said. 

According to the website MassMostWanted, "a white male suspect with [a] scarf covering his lower face jumped [the] pharmacy counter, brandishing [a] knife and took an undisclosed amount of pills." The suspect, about 5'10" to 6' tall, was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black Abercrombie jacket with gray or white stripe down the sleeves, a black baseball hat, and brown pants, according to the Stoughton Police log. 

Devine said one of Stoughton's police officer recruits was in the Rite Aid at the time and got a good description of the suspect and got the plate number of the getaway vehicle. 

The suspect fled up Lincoln St., the log states, in a vehicle which turned out to be stolen, Devine said. Multiple area police departments were notified. 

This same vehicle was later found torched in Bridgewater, shortly before 4:30 a.m. on March 14, about 10 hours after the Rite Aid robbery, according to a tweet from the Bridgewater Police Department. 

Both robberies remain under investigation.
