Stoughton Police: Local Man Charged for OUI Liquor, Drugs

The following information was provided by the Stoughton Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 23

At 12:17 a.m., Stoughton police officers notified the Stoughton Department of Public Works that a tree had been blocking the roadway on West Street. The DPW subsequently removed the tree.

At 12:42 a.m., officers received a report that another tree was down in the area of Brock Street. Officers responded to check the area, and notified the DPW to remove the tree.

At 10:10 a.m., a caller told police that a telephone pole snapped on Southworth Court and that a street light had been hanging in the area. A tree reportedly fell and broke two nearby poles. Crews responded to repair the damage.

At 7:35 p.m., a caller reported that a bottle of liquor had been stolen from Super Discount Liquors on Washington Street.

Wednesday, Oct. 22

At 3:50 a.m., officers responded to the South Street area to search for a suspect allegedly involved in an armed robbery that took place at 7-Eleven on Oak Street in Brockton. The suspect reportedly fled towards Reservoir Street in an unknown vehicle. The suspect was described as a black male with a height of about 5-feet, 11-inches, being in his 30s and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a purple scarf covering his face. It was not clear if the suspect possessed a weapon.

At 6:52 a.m, police and the Stoughton Fire Department responded to Stoughton Center on a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

At 9:08 a.m., police pulled a vehicle over on Turnpike Street and subsequently arrested Daniel Cohen, 46, of Stoughton, on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, OUI drugs, operating a vehicle negligently to endanger and a marked lanes violation.

At 5:35 p.m., police received a report that copper piping had been stolen out of a home on Central Street.

At 5:40 p.m., police received a report that a tree was blocking the roadway on Greenwood Avenue.

At 5:51 p.m., a tree reportedly was down on Monk Street.

At 6:19 p.m., a tree was reportedly down on Maple Street.

At 7:45 p.m., a caller reported that two trees had been down on Hillwood Avenue and that a transformer was sparking. The Stoughton Fire Department and DPW were notified.

At 9:44 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., police received reports of downed trees on Glover Drive and West Street, respectively.

At 10:19 p.m., a caller reported a tree was down on Thomas street.

At 10:20 p.m., police received a report that a tree limb was in the road on Pleasant Street near Prospect Street.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

At 5:09 p.m., police received a report that a sewer cover had flipped up on Walters way. An officer responded to replace the water valve cover.

Monday, Oct. 20

At 7:29 a.m., a caller told police that a man was possibly trying to break into a building on Monk Street. Officers responded to Starline and secured the building; no one was on scene upon arrival.
