Stoughton's 2013 Memorial Day Itinerary
Stoughton's Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27. A collation and two Memorial Square dedications will take place in the afternoon.

Reflagging of Veterans Graves
On Saturday, May 25, the town's Veterans Department will be reflagging the graves of all veterans at the Holy Sepulcher and Evergreen Cemeteries in Stoughton, but are looking for some help.
"This is truly a great thing for your children and grandchildren to participate in," Veterans Agent Mike Pazyra wrote.

Volunteers will be meeting at 10 a.m. at VFW Post 1645 at 837 Washington Street. Refreshments will be served at the VFW upon the completion of the reflagging.

"The Memorial Day Parade honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our Country," Pazyra wrote.
The parade begins forming at 8:30 a.m. and starts at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27 at the Stoughton DPW at 950 Central St., making stops at:
- Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on Central St.
- Pearl Street Cemetery
- Town Hall (expected arrival at 10:15 a.m.)
- Faxon Park
- Evergreen Cemetery on Washington St. near Town Spa
The parade route is a little more than 2 miles.
"Ceremonies will include recognizing the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War at Town Hall, the reciting of the Gettysburg Address at the GAR lot at Evergreen Cemetery and a dedication of the new flag pole at the American Legion Burial site at Evergreen Cemetery," Pazyra said.
"Participants in the parade generally include the VFW Color Guard and Firing Detail, Veterans groups, the Police and Fire Departments, the High School Band, Town and State officials, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and possibly other groups," Pazyra continued. "The ceremonies at the various sites include opening prayers, playing by the High School Band, an Honor Guard Firing Detail, the laying of wreaths and various speakers."
Following the parade, at approximately 12 p.m., there will be a collation at VFW Post 1645 at 837 Washington St.
Memorial Square Dedications
The town will also dedicate two Memorial Squares on Monday May 27.
At 1 p.m., the intersection of Pleasant Street and Lincoln Street will be dedicated to John O’Hare.
And, at 1:45 p.m., the intersection of Park Street and Belmont Avenue will be dedicated to Vincent Healey.
A Memorial Square dedication for Herbert Joel Lindelof, at the corner of Lindelof Avenue and Kay Way, was also scheduled for Memorial Day, but will instead take place on Veterans Day.
