Stoughton Teen In 100+ MPH Chase, Crash Will Face Charges

Police say the teen was traveling at a high rate of speed on I-495 before he crashed on Route 106 in Foxborough.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A teenager who allegedly led police on a high-speed chase crashed into a utility pole early Wednesday morning after police had given up the chase. The suspect was identified Wednesday afternoon as a 15-year-old from Stoughton.

Police said that around 2:44 a.m. the suspect nearly struck a cruiser while blazing down I-495 North at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. Police initiated a chase, but terminated it minutes later when the suspect got off at Route 140 in Mansfield and reached a secondary road.

The suspect shortly after crash into a utility pole on Cedar Street in Foxborough. The car appears to have been split into two pieces.

The driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. His name has not been released.

A gun was recovered at the scene.

The teen will face charges stemming from the incident, police said.

Repair crews remain at the scene as of late Wednesday afternoon.
