West Roxbury Man Arrested in Stoughton After Assaulting Police, Ambulance Personnel

The incident occurred early Monday morning, June 11, in downtown Stoughton.

A West Roxbury man was arrested in Stoughton early Monday morning, charged with a number of offenses including assault and battery on a police officer and ambulance personnel, according to the log.

According to the log, the incident occurred at 12:38 a.m. on June 11 at Charl's Restaurant at 809 Washington St in the center of town.

A caller reported to police that Joseph Dowd, 36, of Alameida Rd in West Roxbury, was causing a disturbance.

Dowd was arrested and then reported having chest pains, according to the log. As a result, he was transported to in Brockton.  

In addition to assault and battery, Dowd is charged with possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle; disorderly conduct; and malicious destruction of property (over $250).
