Woman Arrested After Striking Another Person with Car Following Argument at Whiplash in Stoughton

A Roxbury woman faces several charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, after allegedly striking another woman with a car in Stoughton.

A Roxbury woman faces several charges after allegedly striking another woman with a car near Whiplash in Stoughton early Sunday morning.

Stoughton Police were on scene for closing at Whiplash, a club on Wyman St., when an officer requested an ambulance for a female struck by a motor vehicle shortly after 12:30 a.m. on March 24. 

Following an argument and physical altercation with another woman, Shavell Winbush, 24, of Hammond St. in Roxbury, allegedly put her car in motion, striking the other woman, who was in close proximity to the vehicle, Executive Officer Robert Devine said.

The woman who was struck was pulled down, knocked to the ground, and the rear tires of the car Winbush was driving went over the other woman's legs, Devine said. 

The woman suffered only minor injuries.

Winbush, meanwhile, was arrested and was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; and providing police with a false name/social security number. She also had an outstanding warrant.
