Stoughton Police were conducting a well-being check at the home Saturday evening after friends expressed concern when they did not hear from Clark, who works as a phlebotomist in Boston, and had missed work and been out of contact for a period of time, Morrissey said.
Police entered the home and searched room by room, until they found indication of a struggle in the bedroom area, Morrissey said. The Stoughton Fire Department arrived and confirmed Clark had died.
Clark had been dead for an unknown period of time when authorities arrived at the home. Police received the original call Saturday at 7:23 p.m.
While authorities are still awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of Clark's death, there were "obvious signs of trauma," Morrissey said, and she is believed to have been stabbed.
During the investigation, authorities developed enough evidence in the residence to establish "probable cause" to issue a warrant for the arrest of Foster.
Foster is described as black, with brown eyes, and black hair. He is 5'11", 170 pounds, with a slim build (his wanted poster is posted as a PDF in the media gallery).
He is considered to be dangerous, Morrissey said.
Foster may be operating a gray, 2001 Pontiac Aztek owned by the victim. The vehicle has Massachusetts plates with the number 4CTT10, Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany said during the conference.
Clark was renting the home on Glen Echo Blvd. She had lived there for a short period of time. While Foster has not had dealings with the Stoughton Police, Morrissey said it is "fair to say" that he may be known to other police departments.
Clark had two children, although there is no information suggesting they were home at the time of the homicide, according to the DA's office.
The incident remains under investigation.
Stoughton Police Deputy Chief Robert Devine and Detective Lt. Kevin Shea of the Norfolk County State Police Detective's Unit joined DA Morrissey and Chief Shastany at Sunday's press conference. A video of the press conference can be seen in the media gallery.
