Resident Hides From 'Intruders' in Closet

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police Department log:

Monday, March 19

  • At 3 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person near the One person was transported to the hospital.
  • At 4:30 p.m., Animal Control was notified of a stray dog near Paradise Road.

  • At 9:19 a.m., a man told police a vehicle caused him to run across Humphrey Street as he was crossing the street to avoid being struck. As the man ran to the other side, he tripped on the curb. The man refused medical treatment.
  • At 12:15 p.m., two vehicles on Puritan Road reported their gas was siphoned from their vehicles overnight.
  • At 8:50 p.m. a trash barrel was reported smoldering on Humphrey Street. extinguished it.

Thursday, March 22

  • Screaming was reported on Duncan Terrace at 10:08 a.m. Police found a dog had been struck by a car and the owner was taking it to the vet.
  • A resident of Greenwood Avenue reported her fence was missing at 4 p.m.
  • At 5:16 p.m., a delivery truck reportedly crashed into a pole and left the scene.

Friday, March 23

  • At 12:58 a.m., a caller reported a person pushing a carriage with a young child on Humphrey Street. Police spoke to the parent who said their child was restless and they were trying to get them to go to sleep.
  • A two-year-old was scalded by hot water and transported to Salem Hospital at 6:01 p.m.
  • At 9:17 p.m., two females were reported "trying to break into a car with a coat hanger" on Paradise Road. The woman had locked herself out of her car.
  • At 9:50 p.m., three intoxicated youths were reported on Carson Terrace. The youths were brought to their parents.

Sunday, March 25

  • A break-in was reported at an Essex Street home at 12:08 a.m.
  • At 11:45 a.m., a resident burning leaves was reported on Bank Road. They were told to relocate.
  • At 5:56 p.m., a resident of Bay View Drive called police while hiding in a closet to report there were intruders in their home. Police arrived to find the caller's siblings had returned home.

The following people were arrested:

  • Eric Cassie, 51, 17 Morton Hill, Lynn, was charged with violating an abuse prevention order.
  • Julie M. Foley, 46, 24 Dunlap St., Salem, was charged with driving while under the influence of alchol (second offense), driving to endanger, driving while under the influence of alcohol and endangering a child.
