Wakefield, MA — Families are invited to kick off the holiday season at Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration, a festive community event hosted by the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Metro North on Thursday, December 18 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The event begins at The Civic Center, 467 Main Street, Wakefield, MA.
Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration is a long-standing tradition that brings local families together for a night filled with holiday cheer. This year’s event features a lively kickoff as Santa and his “reindeer” stage behind the Civic Center and depart between 6:00 and 6:15 PM, making their way up Main Street. Santa will return to the Civic Center around 6:45 PM, where he will be set up in the Heritage Room for photos.
While Santa is on his route, families can head inside the Civic Center for “reindeer games,” a collection of small crafts and activities for kids hosted in the gym. INspire Cafe will also be on-site serving hot chocolate, along with cookies generously donated by Farmland, creating a warm and welcoming spot for families to enjoy a treat together.
“This event has become a special tradition for so many families,” said Andrea Baez, Chief Operating Officer. “Creating free, memorable experiences for our community is an important part of what we do. Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration brings joy, connection, and a moment to slow down and enjoy the season together.”
The annual celebration reflects the organization’s commitment to providing accessible opportunities for local families. “We want every child and family to feel welcome and included,” said John Shagoury, Chief Executive Officer. “Events like Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration open our doors even wider. It’s a simple way to share some joy and bring our community closer.”
Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to dress warmly and arrive early so they can catch Santa’s departure and take part in the activities.
The Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Metro North serves almost 600 children and teens each day across its Clubhouses and community programs. Events like Santa’s Sleigh Ride &amp; Holiday Celebration help strengthen connections between the Club and the broader community while giving families meaningful experiences during the holiday season.
