Wakefield Urges Proper PPE Disposal To Protect Sanitation Workers
The town has received reports of masks and gloves blowing into roadways and yards.
WAKEFIELD, MA — Wakefield's trash and recycling hauler, JRM, is reporting loose personal protective equipment blowing into roadways and yards, the town said. Wakefield is urging residents to properly bag protective masks and gloves before placing them in trash bins.
Improperly disposed PPE leaves sanitation workers open to potential contamination as they empty bins into their trucks, the town said.
Municipal waste collection, hauling and processing are among the essential businesses open during the coronavirus pandemic.
