1. Property Tax Bills Due Today, Deadline 4 p.m.

From the town website:

The fiscal year 2013 second quarter preliminary real estate and personal property tax bills were mailed on September 21, 2012. The second quarter bill is a preliminary tax for fiscal year 2013. If you have not received a bill for your property, please call the Tax Collector’s office to have a duplicate mailed to you.

State law requires that the tax bill must be mailed to the owner of record as of January 1, 2012. If you purchased your property after January 1, 2012, please be aware that the tax bill may be forwarded to the previous owner by the United States Postal Service. You should call the Tax Collector’s office to have a copy of the bill mailed to you so that you can pay the bill by the due date.

Tax payments are due in the Tax Collector’s Office by Thursday, November 1, 2012 by 4:00 PM. If you intend to mail your payment, please allow ample time for Postal Service delivery. A postmark is not proof of timely payment.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Tuesday, 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Friday, 7:00 AM to Noon

Questions regarding payment of your tax bill need to be directed to Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, 135 School Street, Walpole, MA 02081 or call (508) 660-7299. To view your bill online, click on the Online Bill Pay button below.

2. Take a Hike

Did you know that there are over 30 miles of hiking trails in Walpole?

Join the Walpole Library as Gary Riggott of the Walpole Trails Committee gives an interactive presentation about trails and natural areas that exist right in your own back yard. The presentation will use photos and maps to identify access points to the trails, describe the terrain and length of each trail, show photos of trail highlights, and describe future hikes offered through the Recreation Department. Brand new free trail maps of Walpole’s hiking trails will be available.

4. Planning Board Meeting

The Walpole Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Main Meeting Room at the Town Hall. To view the agenda click here.

The National Weather Service calls for mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 56. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Thursday night look for cloudy skies, with a low around 40. West wind 3 to 6 mph.
