5 Things, Oct 6-7: Famed Musician to Perform at Bird Park

1. Showers May Continue Throughout Weekend

According to the National Weather Service there is a chance of showers, mainly after 5 p.m. Saturday. Patchy fog between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Light south wind becoming southwest 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Rain is likely Sunday, as well, mainly after 3 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 58. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

2. Musician Terry Chance to Perform at Bird Park Saturday

Internationally renowned recording artist Terry Chance will be bringing his eclectic sound to Walpole's Francis William Bird Park on Saturday, October 6, 2012. In a benefit concert sponsored by the Victory Assembly of God, Terry and his band, the Mavericks, will be headlining this show to aid the preservation of the historic park.

Beginning his career singing with Elvis Presley, Terry went on to perform with the likes of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, and many more.

Joining them are special guests Yani Batteau and the Styles. Yani, a Cambridge native,is described as “a woman with a big spirit” who is known best for her energetic, Americana-soul sound.

Also on the bill, is seasoned folk-rocker Patrick Destoop, who brings his unique style of music to life with the help of his two sons.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with the show beginning at 4:30. Admission to this event is $10, children 12 and under will enjoy the show for free. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, your kids and dogs, friends and family and enjoy the fall evening in a festival atmosphere that guarantees to be a good time for all.

3. Rebels Take On Norwood Saturday

The Walpole varsity football team will be on the road at Norwood Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rebels are 4-0 on the season and are looking to stay undefeated.

Raffael's - Sunday bruch at Raffael's is opened to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Raven's Nest- Sunday brunch at the Raven's Nest is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old Country Buffet- The Old Counry Buffet will be open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
