Mr. WHS Competition a Hit for Walpole High Students

They sang, they danced and one kid cried...well, fake cried.

Eight senior boys at Walpole High showed off their talents Wednesday night as they vied for the coveted title of Mr. Walpole High School.

The students had to perform an act onstage and then tell the judges why they deserved to be named Mr. WHS.

Senior Jack Gately took home the crown with his crowd pleasing ribbon dancing performance - complete with tights and a too-too.

The winner was chosen by a panel of teachers and staff members who rated the contestants on entrance, talent, outfits, personality and crowd appeal.

As Mr. WHS, Gately received a sash, crown, $50 gift certificate to Rico’s Pizza and Subs, and a parking space close to the school. In addition, he is allowed to cut to the front of the school lunch line and is allowed entrance to all school events for free, so long as he is wearing his sash.

Other performances included Ryan Erwin who showed off his skills on a scooter, Jared Porack danced his heart out in short-cut jeans and a cowboy hat and Caleb Cofsky sang a solo rendition of pop star Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" while playing an acoustic guitar.
