Rep. Rogers Honors Ever So Humble Pie Company for 'Courageous Business Values'
Rep. John Rogers presented to Andrea Taber a joint House Citation from himself and Rep. Dan Winslow for her 'courageous business values.'

The following was submitted by the office of Rep. John Rogers.
Last Thursday, Representative John Rogers presented to Andrea Taber, owner of the in East Walpole, a joint House Citation from himself and Representative Dan Winslow. A bi-partisan effort, they felt the need to honor her courageous business values. Taber recently came under fire for being the only vendor at the Braintree farmer’s market to refuse to take Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) issued to welfare recipients by the state Dept. of Transitional Assistance. Taber willingly lost business with the state due to her belief that her pies are more of a luxury item than a necessary food item.
Rogers, who filed an amendment to this year’s state budget prohibiting cash withdrawals on EBT cards to curb welfare abuse, supports Taber’s stance but respects those who may disagree.

“Regardless of where citizens may stand on the issue of EBT card restrictions, all can agree that it takes courage to put one’s principles above one’s profits,” Rogers said.
While visiting the Ever So Humble Pie Company, Rogers placed an order for 3 dozen of Taber’s delicious chicken pies which he will donate to the Walpole Food Pantry.
