Walpole Police Helped Search for Missing Girl
During the search for the missing girl, Walpole police had information that led them to a man in Bellingham.

The Walpole Police Department helped search for a girl missing from Medfield last week.
On Monday, Sept. 9, Brittany Thompson, 17 of Medfield, walked out of the Medfield Public Library with a man she met online. She was not seen again until the morning of Sept. 12.
"As soon as we received notice that she had walked away over in Medfield, we deployed our guys around here," said Walpole Deputy Police Chief John Carmichael. "We don't look at borders."
Carmichael said that Walpole has a lot of transient traffic -- due to the train, the bus, and hotels and motels -- all of which were considered during the search.
During their investigation, Walpole police had a lead on a possible suspect.
"At one point, we got some information from an informant that we were working with on another issue," said Carmichael. "Because of his history, we talked to him about the incident in Medfield and showed him pictures. He thought it looked like someone he knew."
But when the informant saw the security camera footage taken at the Medfield Public Library, he did not think the man looked familiar.
"However, [police] did send people down to this guy's house in Bellingham and spoke to him to eliminate him...and it ended up not being him," said Carmichael.
The missing teen was eventually found in Coventry, R.I.
"It's the best ending that you could have," Carmichael said of the girl's safe return home on Sept. 12.
