Walpole Welcomes Two New Police Officers
Police Chief Richard M. Kelleher announced the appointment of Caleb Nix and Robert Pimentel at the Select Board meeting.

WALPOLE, MA - The Walpole Police Department last night recommended the appointment of two new officers to the force: Caleb Nix and Robert Pimentel.
The announcement was made at last night's Select Board meeting by Interim Chief Richard M. Kelleher. Both candidates were approved by the board in 5-0 votes.
Nix is a Canton native and a second-generation police officer whose father serves in the Canton Police Department. He graduated from the Cape Cod Police Municipal Police Academy’s 3rd Recruit Officer Class.

Kelleher noted that Nix was a self-sponsored candidate to the academy.
"Being a self-sponsor takes a lot of responsibility and a lot of drive to do that on your own," Kelleher said. "To not only put yourself through but to know that you want this job bad enough to do that."

He added that "it was clear that he has wanted to do this for his entire life."
"I just can't thank you enough for the opportunity to work for the town of Walpole and the Walpole Police Department," Nix said. "I'm just grateful to become a part of it, to bring what I can to help carry on everything that's great that's going on in the town."
Nix most recently worked at the Bridgewater State University Police Department. He previously worked as a community service officer with the police department in York, Maine. He also volunteers with the Special Olympics and his local church.
Pimentel is a graduate of Westfield State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. While in college, the Townsend resident worked as a community service officer with the Wellfleet Police Department.
Pimentel graduated from the MPTC Plymouth Police Academy in 2019 and returned to the Wellfleet Police Department as an officer. He is a certified physical training instructor through the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee.
"For a young officer that's been on only for a couple of years, that's quite a feat to commit to being an instructor, so we were certainly impressed by this accomplishment," Kelleher said.
"I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to work for this great town," Pimentel said. "I look forward to getting to know the community more every day, getting to know them a little more personally and making them more of my family."
