Walpole Wins Big Over Wellesley

The Rebels scored a season-high 49 points against the Raiders.

Walpole's star running back Mike Rando went down with a high ankle injury on the third play from scrimmage for the Rebels, Friday night against Wellesley.

Rando is expected to be sidelined for nearly a month, according to head coach Barry Greener. The earliest he is expected back is Nov. 9 against Natick, Greener said.

Losing their top back didn't stop them putting up a season-high 49 points against Wellesley, however.

The Rebels were held scoreless for the first quarter and then proceeded to score 49 unanswered points against the Raiders winning, 49-0.

Wellesley used momentum from the Rando injury early-on and fought toe-to-toe with Walpole. The Raiders stopped the Rebels on four straight run plays from Wellesley's 1-yard line in the second quarter.

The Raiders couldn't capitalize on the turnover, however, as quarterback Chris Sarni threw an interception to Walpole's Billy Rockwood. The Rebels took over at Wellesley's 15-yard line.

That play shifted the momemtum in the Rebels' favor and led to their first score of the game, a 21-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Will Bolster to tight end Chris Collins.

From there the Rebels followed senior running back Cam Hanley's lead who scored three consecutive touchdowns putting the game out of reach for Wellesley.

Bolster connected twice with Collins on TD passes. Kyle Raftery and Andrew Papirio also scored for Walpole.

The Rebels are now 6-0 on the season and will take on Needham at home a week from Friday at 7 p.m.
