Staff were informed of the closure just three days before the doors were shut for good.

"Since COVID, trying to get people to come back to the theatre has been difficult,” assistant manager Andy Johnson told CBS.

"It's always felt like a community," Johnson continued. "It's always felt like the people you work with and customers who come in. You get some regulars who you see. We had one customer who we would see every single day Monday through Saturday."

Before the pandemic, Johnson said the theatre used to sell out 1,600 seats a night. Recently, they were seeing days when only 40 tickets were sold.

The theatre’s last movie was played at 7:25 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5.
