Accidental Drowning Ruled Waltham Man's Cause Of Death

Mark Metzger, a Waltham native, was reported missing by friends when he couldn't be found near his sailboat over Labor Day weekend.

WALTHAM, MA — A report from the Medical Examiner's Office in Maine has confirmed that a 74-year-old Waltham man died by drowning in August.

Mark Metzger, 74, of Waltham, was reported missing over Labor Day weekend after friends couldn't find him near his sailboat near the Long Island Ledges in Bremen, Maine.

His body was discovered a few hours later and now the medical report confirms that Metzger drowned.

The Portland Press Herald reported that a statement from the office said Metzger's death is ruled as accidental.
