After SWAT Standoff At Waltham Home, Police Arrest 2 Teens
Waltham police officers arrested Jimmy Ramos, 18, and a 15-year-old on Brown Street.

WALTHAM, MA — Police arrested two teenagers Wednesday afternoon with the help of a SWAT team on the South Side.
Jimmy Ramos, 18, of Brown Street, was arrested on a warrant out of Waltham for multiple charges, including assault and battery on a police officer and assault with intent to murder. Police also arrested a 15-year-old Dorchester teen who had a warrant for resisting arrest in Waltham. Police also charged him with carrying a dangerous weapon.
Wednesday afternoon, a Waltham police officer spotted the two teens, knowing they had warrants, according to police. When he approached them, they ran off and the officer called for backup, according to police.

"It was told to police that both parties were in the house located at 62 Brown St.," police said in a statement. "It was also conveyed to officers that one of the parties (Jimmy Ramos) was not going to cooperate."
Police called in a SWAT team to help because of the severity of the pending charges and surrounded the house as other occupants of the home left. While the SWAT unit from the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council or NEMLEC was on its way, the 15-year-old police had seen with Ramos earlier also came out and police took him into custody. Because he is younger than 18, officials are not releasing his name.

When the SWAT unit arrived, they went into the apartment and started talking to Ramos, who was holed up with a knife in his bedroom. Rather than cooperate with police, the teen climbed out of his bedroom through a window onto a roof area and brandished a knife, police said.
Police commanded him to drop the knife several times before he complied and officers arrested him. He was wanted in Waltham on a warrant for armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery on a police officer, motor vehicle larceny, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and failing to stop for police. He also had citations for a license plate violation to conceal identity, negligent operation, unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of personal injury, speeding, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and miscellaneous municipal ordinance violations. Ramos was also wanted in Watertown on a warrant for credit card fraud and felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
Police said no one was injured during the standoff.
NEMLEC is a private corporation formed by 58 police agencies in Middlesex and Essex counties. It pools police resources to provide specialized units in its service area.
