WALTHAM, MA — Waltham Patch asked readers for suggestions on places to go sledding around the city. And there are plenty.
Here's a look at our growing list:
-Beaver Brook Reservation: Beaver Brook Reservation is a public recreation area covering 303 acres on the dividing line between the town of Belmont and Waltham. The state park is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Owl Hill, a 250-foot landform between Trapelo Road and Waverley Oaks Road is the hill to look for.

-Cedar Hill: The Camp Cedar Hill recreation is owned by the Girl Scouts of America. It is 74 acres and while there are no trails open to the public, there's a hill right next to the entrance on 265 Beaver St. that's a favorite for sledders.
-Gore Place: Gore Place is a historic country house, now a museum, located at 52 Gore St. It is owned and operated by the nonprofit Gore Place Society. The 45-acre estate is open to the public daily without charge; an admission fee is charged for house tours. They have snow shoe tours and also a sledding hill.

-Prospect Hill: This hill is the third-highest point within 12 miles of Boston. The hill is in Prospect Hill Park on the west side of Waltham, near Route 128. There are two different summits; Big Prospect, at 485 feet, and Little Prospect at 435 feet. Both summits provide some of great views of Boston. The hill and the surrounding area make up the 252-acre Prospect Hill Park, a municipal park with numerous hiking trails and picnic areas that is the oldest and largest public open space in the city. The park was used as a ski slope on and off between the 1950s and 1990.
