Chief Tom MacInnis Retires From Waltham Fire Department

MacInnis made it into the Waltham Fire Department​ in 1988 when he was 28 years old.

WALTHAM, MA — Waltham Fire Chief Tom MacInnis officially retired from the department on Friday after over 30 years of service.

MacInnis made it into the Waltham Fire Department in 1988 when he was 28 years old. He was a firefighter for about a decade, was promoted to lieutenant, and moved into fire prevention, where he worked for about 20 years. He became chief in 2018 after Paul Ciccone retired.

"Thank you Chief for all your dedicated years to the City of Waltham Fire Department,” the department Tweeted.

MacInnis was born and raised in Waltham and was the first in his family to become a firefighter. Prior to joining the department, he worked for Raytheon for several years.
