Tarallo, who represents Ward 2 made the announcement during the Tuesday, May 28 City Council meeting. Tarallo, in some brief remarks, said he was responding to inquiries on why he had not yet pulled nomination papers for reelection.

“ I think it is the understatement of understatements to say you will be missed,” Waddick said.

City Councilor Robert Logan, who called Tarallo a close, personal friend, choked up as he praised Tarallo for his work and friendship. Logan described running for another council seat years ago when he bumped into Tarallo, who was also running.

“We really hit it off. We agreed on a lot of issues,” Logan said.

Logan said Tarallo’s planning and zoning experience would be a great loss. Tarallo currently serves at the City Planner in Woburn and has previously performed the same job in Malden, Logan said.

“Serving with Ed has made me a better city councilor,” Logan said.

CANDIDATES FOR TARALLO’S SEAT

City Councilor Ken Doucette told Waltham Patch he would be running for Tarallo’s seat. Also, Waltham resident Sarah Hankins, who has already pulled papers for an at-large council seat, told Waltham Patch she had also pulled papers for Tarallo’s seat. She said she would decide which seat to run for by Monday, June 3.
