Gun, Drugs Seized After Waltham Traffic Stop

WALTHAM, MA — A Waltham man faces gun and drug charges after a traffic stop in the city, police said.

Khansee Chalernsouk, 32, was pulled over by Waltham police on Sept. 4 around 6:30 p.m. on Lexington Street. Police said the vehicle Chalernsouk was driving was "involved in an incident" at 699 Moody St. before the stop.

During the stop, a patrol officer observed a passenger attempting to hide something under a seat, officials said. The officer also saw the handle of a gun visible from under the seat, prompting him to remove Chalernsouk from the car.

Officials said Chalernsouk didn't have a valid license to carry a firearm.

A subsequent search of his person turned up cash and cocaine "packaged in a way consistent with the distribution of narcotics," police said.

Further examination of the firearm showed that it appeared the serial numbers on the slide and barrel had been intentionally defaced to make the firearm untraceable, police said. The gun was loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.

In total, he faces six charges ranging from property destruction to drug possession and various gun charges.
