Update on Waltham Bakery Amendment

The vote was held on Dec. 9.

The Waltham City Council has passed a zoning amendment to more easily allow for bakeries in downtown Waltham, according to the City Councilor Robert Logan.

The council approved the new rule at its Dec. 9 meeting.

The amendment, which Logan proposed, creates a specific category for bakeries, which will make it easier for them to locate in Waltham. With the approval, bakeries will also be allowed in Business A, Business B and Business C districts.

Before the approval, city officials would classify bakeries into a different zoning use category.
