Waltham Boys & Girls Club Providing Free Meals To Kids This Summer
Free meals will be available for children and teens under 18 at local pop-up food distribution sites from June 27 to August 19.
WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Boys & Girls Club is keeping kids fed all summer long with their Summer Eats program, which runs Monday through Friday from June 27 to August 19.
The organization distributes free lunch meals to children and teens under 18 with no registration or identification required. Meals are available on a first come first served basis and children will be required to eat their meals at the sites.
Meals are available at the following pop-up food distribution sites throughout Waltham:

- 12-1 p.m. at Connors Pool (330 River Street)
- 12-1 p.m. at Drake Playground (3 Hazel Street)
- 12:15-12:45 pm. at MacDonald Playground (12 Cutter Street)
- 12:15-12:45 p.m. at Prospect Hill Playground (2 Hansen Road)
- 12:15-12:45 p.m. at Chesterbrook Garden (Brookway Court)
Waltham Boys & Girls Club also provides meals for all students enrolled in summer programming at Waltham Public Schools, including Plympton Elementary School, Whittemore Elementary School, Stanley Elementary School, McDevitt Middle School, and Kennedy Middle School.
It addition to providing daily meals, the Waltham Boys & Girls Club team is purchasing, packing, and distributing groceries to families every other week.

“The Summer Foods Program is an “All Hands on Deck” initiative,” Waltham Boys & Girls Club Assistant Executive Director Jason Smith said in a statement. “The process, the attention to detail, and the consistency of communication is what supports the process.”
"Here at the Waltham Boys & Girls Club, we are honored to serve the youth of the Waltham community nutritional meals, enrichment activities, while fostering meaningful relationships,” he continued. "The overall Summer Foods experience signifies family, equality, and community pride.”
Summer Eats is a federally funded nutrition program administered by the Massachusetts
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, with support from the Child Nutrition
Outreach Program at Project Bread. During the summer, more than 400,000 students across the
Commonwealth lose access to school breakfast and lunch programs.
On Wednesday, July 27, the Waltham Boys & Girls Club will also host a Summer Eats MidSummer Celebration from 12 to 2 p.m. at Drake Playground, located at 3 Hazel Street.
The organization will be serving its free lunches and there will be an ice cream truck for children to receive a cold treat. There will also be raffles, games, prizes, face painting and a bounce house for the community to enjoy.
