Waltham Farmers’ Market Sees Increase In Low Income Shoppers
The first four weeks of the market have seen an overall 27 percent increase in the use of food assistance funds compared to June 2021.
WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Farmers’ Market (WFM) is in need of donations to help offset this year’s increase in EBT/SNAP activity, said organizers in an email.
According to WFM, the first four weeks of the market have seen an overall 27 percent increase in the use of food assistance funds compared to June 2021.
"Unfortunately, this trend will continue throughout our season, hence an early “ask” for donations to see us through the next four months,” WFM said in a statement. "We know the economic downturn impacts most of us but we wouldn’t be asking unless we really need it!"

A donation to WFM’s SNAP Match Program gives twice, said organizers. The market will match up to $10 when shoppers buy tokens with an EBT card and each $10 given to a shopper is spent with the vendors, benefitting them both.
To make a donation, click here or send a check to: Waltham Farmers' Market, P.O. Box 541161, Waltham, MA 02454. There is also a “Donation” can at the WFM Info Tent.
