WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Fire Department is joining the rest of the country and gearing up for National Fire Prevention Week, which is October 9-15. Due to the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day holiday on Monday, Oct. 10, the city is participating from Oct. 16-22.
During Fire Prevention week, WFD will be sending its S.A.F.E. (Student Awareness of Fire Education) teaching team into all Waltham public and private elementary schools to teach vital fire and life safety lessons to kids in grades K-3.
Safety lessons focus on basic fire & safety tips that can be learned by everyone: react to smoke alarms, practice home escape plans, and know where the exits are.
