
WALTHAM, MA – The City of Waltham this week began its housing voucher lottery for rental subsidy in the city.
The voucher program is funded by the Community Preservation Committee and doled out by the Waltham Housing Authority. In order to apply, families and individuals must be making less than 50 percent the area median income:
1 person - $34,350

5 people - $53,000
Under the program, the tenant's portion of rent will be 30 percent of Adjusted Monthly Income or $300, whichever is greater. Maximum rent is 120 percent of the Housing and Urban Development's most recent fair market rates.
Up to 50 vouchers are available for qualified households. Applications may be picked up at the Waltham Housing Authority, 110 Pond Street; City of Waltham housing office, 119 School Street; WATCH, 24 Crescent Street, Suite 201; or will soon be available on the Waltham Housing Authority website. The application deadline is Feb. 15, and the lottery will be held Feb. 24.
