Resto allegedly walked into the Waltham Police Department at 5:17 a.m. on Dec. 31 and began banging on the dispatch door. Police officers said he was holding a bloody knife.
When they tried to arrest him, Resto began walking toward the officers with the knife and asking them to shoot him, according to an earlier Patch report.

Police had to shoot Resto with a beanbag gun to subdue him and bring him into custody.
They then drove to Resto’s home at 204 Clocktower Drive and found his wife Gloria Resto, 42, dead.
Gloria Resto worked at Sapphire Salon at 12 Warren St. in Waltham. She had two children.
“Those who loved Gloria Resto will be mourning her loss for the rest of their lives,” District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a press release. “They are still shaken to the core to think that her violent death was allegedly at the hands of her own husband. It is difficult to grapple with why a life such as hers was taken when she brought so much joy into the lives of others.”
Waltham Police said they will continue to work with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office to see that “justice is served in connection with this brutal murder.”
