Waltham Office Building Evacuated Due To Chemical Spill

The spill happened around 2 p.m. Monday at Azenta Life Sciences at 1432 Main St.

WALTHAM, MA — An office building in Waltham was evacuated Monday afternoon due to a chemical spill inside a laboratory, reported WCVB.

According to the Waltham Fire Department, the spill happened around 2 p.m. at Azenta Life Sciences at 1432 Main St. and involved an acid-based, chemical solvent.

Waltham Fire Chief Randy Mullin said between a liter and a gallon of solvent was spilled. It was contained to the Azenta Life Sciences lab.

No serious injuries were reported, but two people were taken to a local hospital as a precaution and seven others were medically evaluated at the scene for skin, nose, and throat irritation.
